FMCSA says 10 revoked ELDs trigger OOS citations
FMCSA said drivers using 10 revoked electronic logging devices will be placed out of service if safety officials find them after Sept. 8, 2026.
The agency said it removed the devices from the list of registered ELDs on July 9, 2026, because the companies failed to meet the minimum requirements in Title 49 CFR Appendix A to Subpart B of Part 395. FMCSA also said the period for motor carriers to use paper logs while updating to a new ELD has ended.
According to the notice, safety officials who encounter a driver using one of the revoked ELDs, or improperly using paper logs, should cite 395.8(a)(1) and place the driver out of service in accordance with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Out-of-Service Criteria.
