FMCSA removes five ELDs from the registered list

FMCSA removed five electronic logging devices from its Registered ELDs list on Thursday, August 06, 2026, after the companies failed to meet the minimum requirements in Title 49 CFR Appendix A to Subpart B of Part 395.

The revoked ELDs are:

FMCSA said motor carriers have up to 60 days to replace the revoked ELDs with a compliant ELD. The agency also said carriers and drivers using the devices must discontinue use and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data.

The deadline FMCSA gave is October 6, 2026. After that date, carriers and drivers who continue using the listed ELDs will be in violation of 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), "No record of duty status," and drivers will be placed out of service under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Out-of-Service Criteria.

FMCSA said that if the providers correct all identified deficiencies, the agency will put the ELDs back on the registered list and notify the industry and the field. The notice also says FMCSA strongly encourages motor carriers to take the listed actions now to avoid compliance issues if the deficiencies are not fixed.

Drivers

Drivers using one of these devices face an October 6, 2026 cutoff in the FMCSA notice. After that date, FMCSA says continued use would be a no-record-of-duty-status violation and could lead to out-of-service placement.

Fleets

Fleets with any of the five revoked ELDs have a 60-day window to move to a compliant ELD from the Registered ELDs list. FMCSA says they must stop using the revoked devices and use paper logs or logging software in the meantime.
