The agency said summer travel is picking up and reminded drivers, carriers, and safety partners that controlling speed can save lives. FMCSA said higher speeds reduce reaction time, lengthen stopping distances, and can increase crash severity, especially for large trucks and buses.
The bulletin also points to a separate set of education and enforcement campaign resources. FMCSA said the new suite is meant to support law enforcement and safety partners and reinforce a message that safe driving is not optional and is part of being a professional driver.
FMCSA listed unsafe behaviors that the campaign materials address, including texting while driving, speeding, and violating work zone laws. The bulletin says drivers, carriers, and safety partners can download and share social media graphics, talking points, audio spots, and other materials.
The agency also highlighted more speed prevention resources from NHTSA. FMCSA said its resources focus on safe driving behaviors for commercial motor vehicle drivers, while NHTSA provides resources for passenger vehicle drivers and other everyday road users.
The bulletin is dated July 2026. FMCSA also included links to its speed campaign resources page, its safe speed outreach resources, its education and enforcement campaign resources, and its Our Roads, Our Safety partnership program.
